Core technology and features
The OSCAR 15 is designed to deliver high-quality, distortion-free images with minimal radiation dose. Key features include:
- Flat panel detector (FPD): Unlike older models that use image intensifiers, the OSCAR 15 features an advanced CMOS flat panel detector. This provides excellent image uniformity, a wide field-of-view, and superior resolution for clear, detailed images.
- High-frequency generator (HFG): A powerful 15 kW HFG with a rotating anode X-ray tube allows for excellent image quality, even during longer procedures. It offers adjustable kV and mA ranges and an Automatic Brightness Control (ABC) for optimal clarity.
- Reduced radiation exposure: The system includes features like Auto and Virtual Collimation, which focuses radiation on the area of interest, and Low Dose Mode, which automatically manages the radiation dose. This helps ensure the safety of both patients and medical staff.
- Ergonomic design and usability: The unit features a compact, hybrid design for easy maneuverability in crowded operating rooms. A user-friendly 10.4-inch touchscreen interface helps streamline the workflow.
- Flexible positioning: The C-arm offers a wide range of motion, including a broad orbital rotation (up to 155° or 150° on some versions), to provide convenient operation during various procedures.
Clinical applications
The OSCAR 15 is a versatile system suited for a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including:
- Orthopedic and spine surgery
- Pain management
- Vascular imaging, including Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA)
- Cardiac and trauma imaging
- Urologic and neurologic procedures
- Endoscopy and cholangiography
Available versions
Depending on the specific application, different configurations are available, such as:
- OSCAR 15FD: Features a larger 30x30cm flat panel detector for a wider field of view, ideal for complex vascular surgery.
- OSCAR 15i: Utilizes a conventional image intensifier (9” or 12”) instead of a flat panel detector.
